    Happy New Year!

Our site is fully operational again! Apologies to those of you who couldn't find us, or found us not quite presentable - we had some problems with our former web host, but have found a new home and hope to stay put for a long time! Unfortunately, the move produced a few unpleasant side effects:
    we had to temporarily disable our search engine, but hope have it back up soon;
and the Forum is up again, but all previous posts were lost - please take a moment to sign up again and jump in with any questions, comments or information you may have, and sorry for the inconvenience.

We have a new Guestbook feature - please sign in, we'd love to hear from you!

Also, there are tons of new links to Environmental Organizations and Bird-Watching Clubs, and a new page on the Swift River Valley Historical Society which contains information and photos.

We have some great new features:

A SEARCH ENGINE, which you may have noticed on our homepage, will help you find specific information within the site by entering keywords.

A FORUM, where FOQ members and other site visitors can post questions, comments and observations about Quabbin, and just get to know one another. You can reach this page by clicking the new "Forum" button at left. Enjoy, and don't be timid - we'd love to hear from you!

And finally, a little local WEATHER REPORT, at bottom left, for those of you outside the valley. You can click the link to get a detailed forecast, but beware of pop-up ads!

We hope you'll use these new features and that they'll make your visit here more enjoyable! If you have any questions or problems, please send us an e-mail: admin@friendsofquabbin.org

In case you're wondering how the recent Code Orange Alert has affected Quabbin, see a statement on Security Status and Access to Quabbin Reservation

Clif Read, Director of Interpretive Services at Quabbin, has been taking advantage of our recent stretch of warmer weather to snap these lovely winter photos of Quabbin. Enjoy, and let's start looking for signs of spring!

If you haven't visited here before, everything's new! If you have, you'll notice a redesign in response to some of the feedback I received, in addition to the following new pages:

    Questions & Answers

    Quabbin Facts & Figures

The Valley Towns Pages: Dana, Enfield, Greenwich, Prescott
(look for more photos and information soon)

    And two new photo galleries:
Gallery 2 exhibits the work of Betty and Bob Bousquet
Gallery 3 is a collection of photos of the old Swift River Valley by Greenwich photographer Burt Brooks.

The Watershed has been expanded, and now includes links to several articles relating to the Quabbin environment.

Check back soon, because we will be adding excerpts from our Oral History Tapes for you to listen to, as well as more photos, and our Special Feature.

Please email us with any comments or suggestions, and we'd love to hear your own Quabbin recollections and see your photos or artwork -- as long as you don't mind possibly seeing your work on our website!
